OneNote: Seminar Keilmuan Islam

I really should have gone back to my notes  as soon as I got back from 

the seminar, and tidy them up. It was a really nice seminar in London. 

Excellent sharing and discussion led by Dr Maszlee. 

I met great awesome people there. 

Felt inferior throughout the seminar haha. 

Anyway, nota lompat-lompat Nana:

- With the order for muslim to take wudhu, that lifts up the Arab as a civilised nation. 

At that point in time, water and best clothing weren't t a thing for the commoners. 

Only for elite. This leads into the development of water technology.

- Struggle towards perfection is related to mercy to yourself, to the other human

beings and to the environment.

- Ihsan causes the muslim scientist in the past to have acquisition of mind, and 

they never claimed for copyright/ intellectual property. They want to serve the 

humanities. They only take themselves as the intermediaries of Allah mercy. 

From the creator to the creations.

- Islah- continueous struggle towards perfection.

- In term of technology and many aspets of modernization, they are considered 

as islamic unless proven otherwise through dalil.

- Andalus: Islamic spain. Produce a lot of graduates.  Many non-muslims adopt 

islamic values while maintaining the own faith. 

iTV maurice johnson: produces the best documentary on islamic spain.

- Our education centre does not expose us to other people. 

We end up becoming very closed-minded.

- Inquisistic minds are not being moulded upon our young people.

- People of US are very empowered. A lot of facilities are funded by 

different group in the societies itself. Unlike in Malaysia, people don’t feel 

empowered or hold the sense of ownership of their own countries.

- Be glocal (think global work local), but that’s not enough! Be a world citizen!

- Why do you help palestine??

Its not because they are muslim hence I wanna help them.
Its because I am a muslim and I wanna do something good.

- Engage with the local community

- Ibnu Taimiyyah:

Sunni Muslim was facing their enemies from every single corner- the Mongol, etc.
There was threat coming from the Crusaders and the Shia.
He witnessed the corruption of the mUslim leaders,

They practised islam which was not islamic
He said" how can Allah bless this land"

He was imprisoned- a lot of prisoners converted
He was then imprisoned far on top of the tower-He wrote books

When ibnu Taimiyah talked about politics, he never talked about the khalifah because 

he never thinks that there's a need for that.

- Nepotism (?) is not an islamic system. Meritokrasi is a system mentioned in the hadith

- Max weber?- public administration.

- Some position requires pious people. Some requires competent people.

- Its very unfair to focus only on the abyssanians or the andalus, and not 

looking at the civilization at other places

- Every bangsa has their own strength

- Chinese and indian have good sense of survival.

- Arabians are very assabiyah-->unity among them

- Martin Luther popularkan protestan and supports individualism

- Budaya feudal helps in the spread in islam among orang tanah melayu

-  Ruler kalau ada kefahaman dalam agama, akan ada effect pada rakyat.

-  Soga gakai is a buddhist group. Used to be a gov coalition in Japan

-  If we don’t mix, there will be mutual misunderstanding, mutual prejudice

We need locals when doing volunteering because they know the place and ppl better.

Assessment is very important. Need to collect data. Know what to ask. So that boleh tahu kena bina rumah ke buat ape dulu- what do they need most.

Kalau nk banding kan persatuan lain (World Vision) mungkin tak terbanding. Coz they have served more than 100 countries for more than 70 years. But the point is, kalau tak boleh semua, jangan tinggal semua.

But the point is, kalau tak boleh semua, jangan tinggal semua.

Lets humanitarian mission becomes the medium for unity among muslims. And also as our tajmik pragramme.

Dalam humanitarian mission, the sky is your limit. Use your creativity to sebarkan fikrah.

When we talk at UN level, we try to use their terms. How do we bring islamic value in language that they can understand?

We have panel syariah. Islam ni perlu dipertahankan dari pelbagai sudut.

Initially islamic relief malaysia was built as fundraising partner.

How do we determine that we have succeed? When we are no more needed. When there's no more org susah. Selagi ada org susah, we have roles to play.

Rather than keep comparing ourselves with others, think of what best can we do.

Kefakiran boleh membawa kepada kekufuran.

I was doing a bit of housekeeping on my desktop this morning. Let's call in desktopkeeping. Eheh. Or specifically OneNotekeeping. 

OneNote is certainly one of my favourite apps or microsoft software (is this called a software? Oh well, abaikan.) I like it because I can paste things quickly, type quickly, do many things quite flexibly, can print things out, can zoom in, zoom out, etc. Disebabkan banyak benda boleh buat quickly, maka saya telah mengquickly copy paste or tulis notes sebelum ni tanpa rujuk kembali. Daripada medical notes, personal expenditures, blog post drafts, notes pengisian daripada talks, dan macam-macam lagi.

Maka, kawan-kawan, saya ada banyak notes from talks or lectures yang buat saya macam, "wow, this is so cool, tapi siapa bagi talk ni eh?, or "bila aku dengar ni". Also, much of the points are random and lompat-lompat from one thing to another. But anyhow, I can still benefit from those can't I? :)

I'll share some of them in my following blog posts.
