Love

Allah, the Exalted, has told us in a Holy Hadith,
“…the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him/her; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing nawafil (voluntary prayers or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) until I love him/her, (so much so that) I become his/her hearing with which he/she hears, and his/her sight with which he/she sees, and his/her hand with which he/she strikes, and his/her leg with which he/she walks; and if he/she asks Me something, I will surely give him/her, and if he/she seeks My Protection (refuge), I will surely protect him/her.”

Knowledge is a light

"Abandon rebellion, for knowledge is a light.
And the light of Allah is not bestowed upon a rebel."

Focus

Sit down and do your work, Nana.

Prophet Abraham

His gelaran was khalilullah (kekasih Allah) and ketua kepada nabi dan rasul. He became the very first one to go against all the (1)idolatry and (2)worshiping of calestial bodies during his time(sun, stars, moon). And it all boiled down to him thinking. He was a real thinker. He was all alone initially. The only thing that makes him believe is Allah and Allah alone. No one else tells him anything. Not even a single other source of input.

The way how he did his dakwah was genius too. Being a thinker, he did not give his messages directly but he tried to make others think. He destroyed the idols. When ppl asked if it was him who did it, he said "ask the biggest idol". When he confronted the celestial bodies worshippers , he said "this is my lord" as he looked at the stars. And he then cancelled his claim because the stars in the end disappeared. And we know how the rest of the story goes. From this, we learn how one of the best ways to do dakwah is to make the people think themselves.

Aside from that, from prophet abraham's story, we see how Abraham as' father was adamant for Abraham to be a priest i.e follows his footsteps. And we see how the people in that era worshipped what they worshipped because thats what their forefathers did.
Andd...
If we check al baqarah (2):132-133, we see similar pattern. Similar but not the same. In 132 Abraham was adamant and strict as his father was. Allah siap guna perkataan wasiat. And in 133  the children and offstrings worship what the forefathers worship.

All this passing down of belief system and traditions that we see even in our lives are fitrah, but what the basis is, is all what's making the difference. We are one of the chains passing our belief system down to our offspring. We don't want to pass the wrong thing coz we now know "what forefathers do determine a lot on what the next generation will do".

We are the future forefathers.

My Hero

Today, one of the consultants who gave lecture to us for Mental Health block induction really caught my attention. His look, his voices and the way he delivered his message, all those reminded me of my late grandfather. Allahyarham Mohd Ramli bin Md Arshad.

My arwah atuk who berbalas pantun with me when I balik kampung, kalau tak beli pantun takleh masuk rumah

My arwah atuk who didn't go to school but bought his own dictionary and learnt English on his own and later ended up being an English teacher in a Chinese school. My atuk gave us grammar lesson everytime we go back.

My arwah atuk who loves singing that army song of "Inilah Barisan Kita"

My arwah atuk who takda gigi (Hehe.. selalu gurau pasal ni ngan atuk)

My arwah atuk who spent every single night after isya to tasmik his hafazan.

My arwah atuk who was called by his neighbors and family as "aki body" cause he loved body building in his house. And guess what, he made his own exercise equipments from woods, and cement blocks.

My arwah atuk who hates the fan. Sanggup alihkan kerusi sebab tak nak kipas.

My arwah atuk who loves cleaning the lawn and thats why our kampung lawn looks so much untidy as compared to when he was still around.

My arwah atuk whom are feared by many who said he is garang but hey ask this cucu of him, he's too sweet.

My arwah atuk who loves treating us roti canai every time we go back.

My arwah atuk who didn't like talking about other people i.e gossiping

My arwah atuk who only cared about what Allah would say, and couldn't care less about others' expectations.

I never realized that I actually really really miss him.
I really do.

Al-Fatihah

My neighbours and the birds

My neighbours just next door are a lovely elderly English couple.
Every morning, we shall hear birds chirping as they land merrily into their house compund.
You would think, why'd these birds choose to go to theirs and not the hundred others around the neighbourhood.

Basically they place a long pole in their backyard with few holders of bowls in which they place in the birds food. It's called birds feeder. That's what welcoming the birds. That's why the birds choose their house, and we the neighbours tumpang sekaki menikmati keindahan burung-burung menyanyi riang gumbira.

Berkhidmat dengan binatang dan makhluk.
Look at whom we're learning from :)

Bukan burung saja,
manusia pun tertarik dengan orang yang meraikan.
to get the best in others, you ought to serve the best.
Semua orang suka diraikan.
Tapi tak ramai yang sudi menjemput dan meraikan.

Allah hantar pakcik makcik untuk ajar :)
